you want an autobio, paz?

Yesterday and today I went to UNIS UN conference on global warming. It was interesting but a lot of the information I had heard many many times before. The coolest part was sitting in the UN and sitting in the Vanuatu spot. The most interesting part was the glaciologist, including three surprises! sudden ice shelf disintegration, summer acceleration of ice sheet flow, ice sheet thinning. It's true. Laurie David also spoke about how great it felt to win an Oscar (by the way, that "Inconvenient Truth" song sucks a lot, and I don't care if it's about protecting our planet), about being married to Larry David (who?), and about how the pumpkin harvest for one farmer was twelve tons this fall instead of the usual seventy due to global warming. Stupid woman, it was due to immigration laws - this was the best pumpkin season in decades. Anyway, I'm really glad she exists, doomsday tipping point argument aside, because she's a celeb and people take her SERIOUSLY.
Also this very interesting man came and spoke about the Chicago Carbon Exchange which Trinity School will join promptly. I want them to make a Biodiversity Exchange also.
These are nice websites a man named K.D. spoke about:
http://edgcm.columbia.edu (this is a global climate module) and also
http://conedsolutions.com (your house can run off the grid's wind power)
I saw Jim Hansen give a very good speech but whose argument really surprised me because it was entirely anthropocentric. For someone so into environmental studies you would think they'd say we have some sort of moral obligation to the biotic community, but no. Maybe he was trying to appeal to the youth?
In other news, I am sick in my stomach and it is warm enough and sunny outside. I want to have an outdoors experience but I don't know who will join me and I am lonely.
